On Thursday, 30th September, The Nuclear Technician’s group held its first online meeting. The meeting was held on Microsoft teams and the following members attended:
Andrew Smith, Anthony Attoe, Ashley Wooles, Christopher Bulman, Elaine Dawber-Talbot, Ilona Karnakowska-Paterski, John Claridge, John Thomas, Lee Warren, Marc Schmidt, Martin Stennett, Michal Dutkiewicz, Richard Cooke, Richard Wilbraham, Sam Owen
Organisations involved included: AWE, Centre for Radiochemistry research, The Dalton Cumbrian Facility and the School of mechanical, aerospace, and civil engineering based in Manchester University. Diamond light source, National nuclear laboratory, Nuclear futures institute, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, UKAEA and the UTGARD laboratory.
Members had a chance to introduce themselves to the other group members and then David Williams gave a presentation about the NLT Group and showed off the group’s website.
The meeting provided important discussions about what the NLT group can do for the technicians and how it can help improve lab safety within the nuclear and radiochemistry sector.
The next meeting has been arranged for the 28th of October, 2021.
